Developing Links with International Communities has always been important at Town Green. We have previously linked with schools through the E twinning programme.

Our most recent partner school initiative started in 2021.

We worked through the British Council Connecting School Communities programmes to twin with a school in India. This links really closely with our Geography Curriculum in Year 2 where we study India and the city of Nashik.

The school we are partners with is Barnes School and Junior College in Nashik, India. You can find out more about the school in the link below.

Over the last 3 academic years, we have studied the city and the climate, found our about what it is like to live in Nashik and local industry. We have looked to challenge stereotypes and help children understand what it is like to live in a different country.

Following our unit of work, we plan and organise a Zoom session with the Year 2 children and the partner school. Children collect questions that they would like to ask and they both explain to each other what it is like to live in their respective towns.

We feel the children really benefit from this experience and we hope to develop this further through other year groups as children move through school.

We are also working towards the British Council International School Foundation Award.
