Willow - Year 1/2
Welcome to Willow Class.
In Willow Class our teachers are Miss Peake and Mrs Dykes (until 10:30am each morning) and our Teaching Assistant is Mrs Williams. Mrs Houghton works in our class every Thursday afternoon.
We are looking forward to our Summer term. We will be learning about...
Phonics - We will continue to follow our phonics scheme, Little Wandle, and we will have daily phonics sessions using this scheme. We will continue to practise reading and spelling our tricky words. During our guided reading sessions we will practise our decoding, expression and comprehension skills. Children in our Year One class will complete their phonics screening test in June.
English - The first text we will share is 'There's a Beach in my Pants!' - linked to our seaside topic. We will practise writing lists and using adjectives to make our writing interesting. We will then read and write some poems about shells. Our classic text this term is 'The Tale of Peter Rabbit' by Beatrix Potter which is linked to our animals topic. After half term we will be reading a classic story, Anansi, and writing explanations about minibeasts.
