  • Online Safety

At Aughton Town Green Primary School, we are committed to helping our children become safe, responsible and respectful users of technology. Online safety is taught throughout the curriculum and is reinforced through assemblies, classroom discussions, workshops and special events such as Safer Internet Day.

We recognise that parents and carers play a vital role in helping children stay safe online. By working together, we can ensure that our pupils develop the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to enjoy the benefits of technology while understanding how to manage online risks.

As technology continues to evolve, including the growing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), it is more important than ever that children learn how to navigate the digital world safely, critically and responsibly.

    Supporting Parents and Carers

At Aughton Town Green Primary School, we are committed to supporting families with the latest online safety information and guidance.

To help parents and carers keep up to date with emerging online trends, popular apps, gaming platforms, social media developments and AI technologies, we send home a monthly Online Safety Newsletter. These newsletters provide practical advice and guidance to help families continue online safety conversations at home.

    The newsletters may include:

    • Updates on current online safety concerns and trends.
    • Information about popular apps, games and social media platforms.
    • Advice on parental controls and privacy settings.
    • Guidance on supporting children's safe and responsible use of AI.
    • Screen time and digital wellbeing advice.
    • Suggestions for conversations to have at home.
    • Signposts to trusted online safety organisations and resources.

We strongly encourage all parents and carers to read these newsletters and discuss the content with their children. Regular communication between school and home helps reinforce positive online behaviours and keeps children safer online.
