Oak Class - Year 6
Welcome to Class Oak
Our teacher is Mr Gordon and we get TA support from Mrs Houghton and Mrs Ellis.
Being in Y6 means we have certain responsibilities and jobs to carry out around school. We are expected to put 100% into every piece of work we do and be excellent role models.
We are always very busy in class and are looking forward to our final term at Aughton Town Green. It will be an action packed term with our Y6 production, residential term to Min-y-don in Wales and many other celebrations.
Take a look at some of the work we will be completing this term:
Literacy - We read every day. Sometimes we read independently and other times we work in a guided reading group. We also work on our reading comprehension and grammar skills in small groups. We are currently reading 'Journey to the River Sea' by Eva Ibbotson.
Numeracy - We enjoy applying our mathematical knowledge and skills to challenges and investigations. Throughout the year there will be a big emphasis on reasoning and mental arithmetic.
Science - Our topic for this term will be 'Electricity' and 'Forces'.
Art- Focus on Viking art.
DT - Textiles-Amazon Adventure (money containers)
Computing - We will be learning about creating our own games.
PE - Our focus this term will be adventure games and hockey
Music - In music this term we will be learning about cyclic patterns in music
RE - We are learning all about 'The Church- Where can we find guidance?'
PSHE - Keeping myself safe, Getting on and falling out, self-awareness.
History - We will be learning about the Vikings and Anglo Saxons.
Year 6 Production
This term we will begin auditions for our yearly production. Time to see if there are any budding movie stars in Year 6.
