smiley Welcome to Class Juniper smiley

Welcome to Class Juniper! Our teacher is Miss Jones.  Mrs Roberts, who is new to the school this year, is our Teaching Assistant.  We are so excited to be back at school!

Here is a summary of some of the work we will be completing in the Autumn term:

We are starting the year by reading our class text, "Letters from the Lighthouse".  This is an exciting novel based on an evacuee's experience of World War 2.

We will also look at poetry and non-fiction texts throughout the term.

Reading is very important to us and we will read every day.

Maths: We will start the term by recapping on place value and looking at our mental and written calculation skills.  We will look at some fun problem solving this year and will use practical equipment to help us.

World War 2 is our main topic this term.  It is an exciting topic to study!  There is so much to find out and learn.

Our Art will be based on World War 2.  We will look at artists of the time.

Science: Our topic for this half term is 'Properties and Changes of Materials'.

R.E.: We will look at Christianity this half term.

Our Games lesson will be on  a Monday with Miss Jones and a School Sports Partnership coach.  We will be practising our skills based on different invasion games.  We will come to school in our PE kits with tracksuits and trainers on this day.  We do not need to bring our uniform- we will stay in our kits all day.

Our important things to remember:

Homework will be set on a Friday.

English will be a reading task set online on Rising Stars.

Maths will be set on MathsWatch which we have all used before :)

This homework will be due in on Wednesday.

Online weekly Spellings homework will be set on Spelling Frame.  You will be able to view your spellings on Class Dojo.  We will have our spelling test on Friday.

It is also important to continue with reading at home :).
