Class S - Year 2
Welcome to Class S!
Our teacher is Ms Sumner who believes that children work best when they are happy, so she tries her hardest to make lessons interesting and fun! Mrs Perry is her TA and works every morning.
Each week, we have a number of awards for children who work hard and are well-behaved. We also have an 'incredible handwriting board' for children who are joining up their writing.
This term's work:
English - The first half term we do fantasy writing and then after the half term holiday, we read and write stories about The Lighthouse Keeper. We also do some fantastic nonsense poems which are great fun!
Maths - we will be improving our number skills, especially reasoning. We like to play lots of fun games!
History - We look at the history of the canals - how and why people lived on the canal boats. This topic culminates with a trip to the Ellesmere Port Boat Museum where the children get to dress up, see a lock working and watch a blacksmith at work.
Geography - Our topic is An Island Home. We study this through the Katie Morag books by Mairi Hedderwick.
Computing - We will be continuing to produce powerpoints and to copy and paste pictures from the Internet.
Science - The first half term we are studying plants. Then we will be studying minibeasts.
