Class J - Year 6
Welcome to Class J
Welcome to Class J! Our teacher is Miss Jones. Mrs Skirenko is our Teaching Assistant.
Here is a summary of some of the work we will be completing in the Spring term:
English - This half term we are reading the book, 'The Inventions of Hugo Cabret'. We are using this as a stimulus for some very exciting writing!
We will also be looking at poetry and information texts later on in the term.
We read every day. Sometimes we read independently and other times we read with Miss Jones or Mrs Skirenko.
Maths - We have started the term by looking at co-ordinates, sequences and algebra. We will look at angles, shape and fraction calculations as the term progresses. We will continue to improve our mental and written calculations and we are enjoying the times tables rockstars challenges! Many of us have been awarded our Bronze, Silver or Gold badges in the school's timestable challenge.
Geography- Our topic for this term is Liverpool. We are using different sources to find out about the history of Liverpool, how it attracts tourism and cultural aspects of the city.
Science - Our topic for this term is 'Living Things and their Habitats'.
PE - On Mondays we are developing our hockey skills outside. We need to remember our tracksuits and trainers! On Fridays we will be completing an exciting Gymnastics unit. We need pumps on a Friday.
RE- We are looking at Buddhism this term.
Music- 'The Fresh Prince of Bel Air' is our stimulus for Music this term, using the skills of: listening, appraising and composing . We will be composing and performing our own rap.
Important days to remember:
Homework - Given out on Friday and due in on Wednesday. Maths homework will be from our Maths at home booklets.
PE- Monday and Friday.
