Class DW - Year 2
Welcome to Class DW
Mrs Dickson teaches our class Monday to Thursday and Mrs Woodward teaches our class on Fridays. Mrs McLoughlin is in our class every morning.
We are excited to be in Year 2 and are looking forward to lots of fun learning this term.
Here's what we will be doing in the Autumn term.
English - We are reading stories by Allan Ahlberg and writing our own stories. We will be writing instructions on how to perform magic tricks and are looking forward to performing our tricks to our parents. After half term we will be doing non-fiction writing linked to pirates. If we work hard we will be rewarded with a pirate themed day! We are excited about our planets home reading challenge. Please keep reading at home, it really does make such a difference.
Maths - We will be improving our number skills, especially place value and calculating using tens and units. We enjoy playing lots of games to help us learn!
Science - We are learning about our bodies and how to keep them healthy.
Topic - We are learning about Florence Nightingale. We are looking forward to transforming our role play corner into Scutari Hospital. After half term we will be learning about Africa and will compare a village in Africa to Aughton.
Art - We are exploring portraits. We will look at the work of Picasso and produce our own self-portrait.
DT - Linked to our healthy eating topic, we will be designing and making our own fruit salads.
Music - We will be focussing on the song 'Hands, feet, heart' and will work towards a singing and glockenspiel performance.
